Modern Slavery Statement
Gardeners Greenford Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps that Gardeners Greenford has taken, and is continuing to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in our business operations or supply chains. Gardeners Greenford is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Gardeners Greenford operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, child labour that is exploitative or unlawful, and any form of servitude. This commitment applies to every part of our business and to all individuals working for or on behalf of Gardeners Greenford, including employees, contractors, agency staff, and suppliers.
We expect all who have, or seek to have, a business relationship with Gardeners Greenford to share and uphold this commitment. Any breach of this policy by employees may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. For suppliers and other partners, any breach may result in termination of contracts and removal from our approved supplier list.
Our Supply Chain Standards and Audits
Gardeners Greenford recognises that the risk of modern slavery can arise at different points in the supply chain, particularly where multiple tiers of subcontracting or outsourced labour are involved. We are committed to working only with suppliers who can demonstrate that they meet our ethical standards and comply with all relevant laws relating to employment, labour practices, and human rights.
We conduct proportionate supplier assessments, which may include due diligence checks, requests for policy and compliance documentation, and on-site visits where appropriate. Existing and new suppliers may be subject to periodic audits that focus on working conditions, recruitment practices, wage and hour compliance, and the freedom of workers to leave their employment. Where non-compliance is identified, we expect timely corrective actions, and we monitor progress. Persistent or serious failures may result in the suspension or ending of the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
To support our zero-tolerance approach, Gardeners Greenford promotes awareness of modern slavery risks among employees and encourages a culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, agency workers, and contractors are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery, whether it relates to our own operations or to our supply chain.
Reports can be made to line managers, senior management, or through internal escalation routes made known to staff. All reports are treated seriously and handled sensitively. We will investigate concerns promptly and, where appropriate, take remedial and preventative action. Gardeners Greenford will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Our Ongoing Commitments
Gardeners Greenford is committed to continuous improvement in identifying, addressing, and preventing modern slavery risks. This includes reviewing and refining our policies, due diligence processes, and supplier engagement practices. We aim to work collaboratively with suppliers and other stakeholders to improve transparency and promote fair and safe working practices throughout our supply chains.
We will continue to monitor regulatory developments and recognised best practice guidance, and we will integrate relevant changes into our internal procedures, contractual requirements, and training and communication efforts.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to ensure that it remains accurate, effective, and reflective of the actions taken by Gardeners Greenford. As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our supplier audits, due diligence activities, and reporting mechanisms, and we identify areas where further improvements can be made.
The updated statement is considered and approved by the senior leadership of Gardeners Greenford, who hold overall responsibility for ensuring that the organisation complies with its legal and ethical obligations in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking. This statement represents Gardeners Greenford's commitment to upholding human rights and promoting dignity, fairness, and respect for all individuals who contribute to our business and supply chains.
